Porsche of Tacoma

The original Porsche of Tacoma dealership was built in 2011. For over a year, Merit was hard at work updating and renovating the Porsche of Tacoma building, adding a 6,200 SF Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) addition to the existing service area, and performing renovations to the 15,000 SF existing building. The project included many exterior upgrades, most notable being new siding, a new entry, a large skylight, a new vault, and larger power service, relocation of the existing grease interceptor, and the storm and sanitary sewer lines.  During the relocation of the storm and sanitary sewer lines, we encountered large amounts of water due to the ground/sea level near the port.  We remedied this by using a baker tank to collect and remove the water from the site and using pipe sleds, exported tons of existing materials, and imported new, more suitable materials so that we could continue with the storm scope.

The most significant interior improvements to the project include a new vehicle delivery room in the showroom with operable glass partitions that includes an illuminated ceiling for highlighting features at the time of the new vehicle delivery, and a new high-speed door to enter the new vehicle delivery room. We installed new Finwall glass at the perimeter of the showroom area. We removed existing sales offices and created new offices to meet the current Porsche standards. We also installed new flooring and upgraded ceiling finishes in multiple locations. The installation of new glass dividing walls created a more open environment. Four new vehicle lifts were added to the service area with one new alignment rack. We also installed a new underground vehicle exhaust at each service bay.

I can say without any reservations, our experience with the Merit team on this complex project was excellent in every way...It would be an understatement to say that the folks at Porsche had extremely high standards for attention to detail and overall appearances. Truly. I can say that Merit Construction performed well under pressure, paid attention to the needs of the brand, and to Larson Automotive.
