Honoring Our Past. Inspiring Our Future - Merit Construction Unveils New Branding After 5 Years
We are proud to unveil our new logo and branding. Our new branding is more than a refreshed logo and new colors; it’s a symbol of growth, strength, and the deep-rooted values that continue to define Merit.
A Story of Thoughtful Evolution
Five years ago, when Tammy Birklid assumed ownership of Merit, she made a deliberate choice to leave a small gap in the circle of the logo. It was a symbolic gesture, a recognition that the company was in transition and an acknowledgment of the Zarelli family who built the foundation on which Merit stands today. That open space honored the past while leaving room for growth, signaling that the journey was not yet complete.
Now, five years later, the gap has closed, not to erase the past, but to signify unity, confidence, and a new chapter of strength. The completed circle represents that Merit is firmly established in who we are, what we offer, and where we are going. It’s a declaration that the transition is complete, and that we continue to build on the same values that have always defined us – Character, Strength, and Unity.
A Circle That Connects and Strengthens
The circle also reflects our deep connection to our history, our people, and our purpose. Our team is tight-knit; we care deeply about one another and the work we do. Like the circle, we are unbroken and continuously learning, growing, and refining our craft. The cycle of progress at Merit is ongoing.
A Nod to Our Roots
The original Merit logo in 1957 was blue and it wasn’t until the 1990’s that the iconic Merit red replaced it. The new Merit Blue is a tribute to our beginnings and the beautiful Pacific Northwest we are so lucky to call home.
The ownership transition to the Birklid Family is now complete, and we’re proud to step into this next era - confident, connected, and committed to excellence in everything we do.
