Estimator
Job Description
Merit Construction is looking for an experienced, knowledgeable construction Estimator to work alongside our Sr. Estimator. This person should be experienced and committed to growing in the construction industry. This person must be well-organized, with a positive attitude, and with proven leadership abilities.
Role/Function:
Issuing invitations to bid to vendors and subcontractors.
Setting up and attending on site pre-bid meetings.
Updating estimating database.
Performing quantity takeoffs (manually and on screen).
Assembling of complete estimates.
Writing scopes of work and project narratives.
Maintain bidding history data and reports.
Producing preliminary project schedules.
Assembling estimate documents and working with the Sr. Estimator to produce quality competitive estimates to all of our clients
Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelors or Associates Degree. Construction management degree preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience at a commercial construction company. Work experience as an estimator assistant or full-time estimator is preferred.
Have a good understanding of all aspects/phases of commercial construction.
Be able to read and interpret bid documents including specifications & drawings.
Able to perform material quantity takeoffs both manually and on screen.
Detailed oriented in regard to completeness of information required of and within an estimate.
Good working knowledge of estimating software (Timberline or similar).
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Projects.
Able to work independently and or as part of a team.
Able to communicate well with others both orally and in writing.
Demonstrates a strong work ethic.
Proficient in: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Sage 300 Estimating, Procore
