Hope Lutheran Church

Merit Construction provided pre-construction services with the owner and architect for this team-build project that commenced while the school was still in session. The students were engaged which created a learning environment around the construction process with an emphasis on safety. Merit coordinated closely with the school to establish material deliveries and lay down areas that separated students from construction activities. We worked with the school’s schedule to coordinate material deliveries at off peak hours to minimize congestion. Construction started with the demolition of an adjacent structure and hazardous material abatement. The school and church structures were connected in the center with a Shotcrete basement foundation which was also installed to improve the seismic qualities of the adjacent structures. Substantial upgrades to the existing fire sprinkler, fire alarm, plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems were accomplished through team-build, bidder designed systems. Accessibility was enhanced with a new elevator, handicap parking and emergency egress corridors.
